About me / Contact

First and foremost, let me introduce myself. I’m Luis, born in Lisbon (native Portuguese), but I’ve been in London since 2005 having completed my studies in Fine Art photography at Ar.co. Art Centre of Image and Communication.

Passion, creativity, authenticity and an element of provocation, are all themes I like to incorporate in my work. I want to make people feel, question and think.

After a brush with a short career in music, my love for portraiture and storytelling led to me to Photography and I’ve never looked back. I see people, in all their diversity, as a blank canvas. Through them I have unlimited possibilities to tell a story and reach a wider audience, whether that’s within fiction or reality.

I work part-time as a freelance Photographer; doing Portraits, Fashion Editorials and occasionally Street and Fashion Events. I’ve had the pleasure to work with many up and coming designers and the opportunity of doing some back stage Photography at events such as ‘Lisbon Fashion Week’.

At the moment, I work full time in Fashion retail store. Although this is not directly related to photography, it helps me to better understand what the current fashion trends are, how important styling is and how I can make it useful for my Photographic practice, either in a Fashion or a more conceptual content. Saying that, I am able to travel for work, if given some notice in advance.

I lend myself well to working within a creative team of Stylists, Hair and Make-up artists. I am also adept at the other side of Photography, I am self-taught in Adobe Photoshop, Light room and InDesign. I enjoy being involved in process of a shoot as a whole and having control, that said I am just as happy allowing others to have an opinion, and open to any modifications needed, all in a client’s best interest.

I am eager and ready to make a full move into Photography and continue to keep learning and perfect my skills even more.

Some of my greater Photographic achievements include working with Made-to-measure suiting Tom Mojet, where I was asked to create Fashion content for his website, including shooting some of his designs and clients both on location and in the studio, but also being involved somewhat with Product Photography which was new challenge to me. For the clothing company Reiss, I worked along side retail director Luci Vardi to create a print booklet with images portraying the Reiss customer experience. I also had the pleasure many times, of covering some of their more corporate briefs, these included in-store events, management meetings and head office private gatherings, where I managed to come out of my comfort zone, feeling at ease photographing crowds of people.

My work has been featured in a number of magazine publications dedicated to Art, Culture and Fashion including Portuguese “Umbigo” magazine, with a four-page publication of my personal work entitled “Sugar in my hands” and German “Shift” magazine, where I was asked to create my own fiction ad entitled “Clone clinic”

When I’m not doing any type of Photographic work, I still do create music as a hobby also, I enjoy escaping to the Countryside, being in the company of close friends and travelling around the World.
